Michiel advises companies all over the world in the fields of protection, registration and enforcement of trademarks, domain names and designs for over 15 years.
He gained experience as a trademark and design attorney in one of the largest Dutch IP firms. Before joining Turnstone (then Signify) in 2016, he headed the Trademarks Department of this firm.
Michiel advises a variety of companies and institutions in Europe and beyond on product protection, re-branding and IP strategies, as well as on trademark, design, copyright, trade name and domain name prosecution and enforcement matters.
He regularly publishes articles, is involved in drafting and evaluating Benelux IP laws and is active in various international IP associations such as INTA, AIPPI and ECTA. Michiel is a certified Benelux and European trademark attorney and was a Board member and Past President of the Benelux Association of Trademark Attorneys (BMM), that serves the interests of over 700 IP attorneys. Furthermore, he is a tutor in the professional education program of the BMM.
